Mary F. Dayton

Mrs Mary F. Dayton, 85, formerly of Sauber Manor, 1025 Liberty St., died Monday, May 31, in La Crosse Lutheran Hospital.

She was born May 12, 1897 to Peter and Rose (Teff) Metzdorff.

Mrs. Dayton was a member of St. James Paris Alter Society.

Survivors are five daughters, Sister M. Ruthanne Dayton, Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, and Mrs. William (Jean) Affeldt, both of La Crosse, Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Edgeton of Mountain Home, Ark., Mrs. Fred (Mary) Otto of La Crescent and Mrs. Harry (Joan) Packman of Roanoke, Ill.; five sons, James, John, Thomas, Robert, and David all of La Crosse; 29 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Metzdorff of La Crosse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1958.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church, both in La Crosse. The Rev. Gerald Fisher will officiate and burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home’s Winnebago Street Chapel on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m.
