Edgar P Hendrickson

1920-2010

Edgar “Crankshaft” Hendrickson, 90, passed away on May 14, 2010, at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. He was born on April 27, 1920, in Waukon, Iowa. Edgar served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.

Edgar worked for 40 years as a letter carrier and a backyard mechanic. He owned and maintained two race cars with his mechanical abilities. He was a big-time sports fan, enjoying softball, football and cheering for the Giants. He also enjoyed playing the slots at Twin Pines Casino. His sporting interests also included all of his grandkids games.

He was a man who was always running, but never finished his backyard chores! He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and great-grandfather.

Edgar is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverly Hendrickson; daughters, Linda Lewis and Chris Torress; sons, Edward Hendrickson, Doug Parsons, Brad Parsons, Greg Parsons and Steve Hendrickson; sister, Bernita Lonergan and 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be on Wednesday, May 19, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Tulocay Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of the donors choice. Memories and words of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.tulocaycemetery.org

Edgar “Crankshaft” Hendrickson, 90, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, CA. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, May 19 at Tulocay Funeral Home, Napa, CA. Interment was in Tulocay Cemetery, Napa, CA.

Edgar was born April 27, 1920 in Waukon, his mother the former Ida Vangen, the sister of Minnie Ford and Peter Vangen. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Edgar worked for 40 years as a Letter Carrier and a “backyard mechanic”. He owned and maintained two race cars with his mechanical abilities. He was a big-time sports fan, enjoying softball, football and cheering for the Giants. He also enjoyed playing the slots at Twin Pines Casino. His sporting interests also included all of his grandkids' games. He was a man who was always running, but never finished his backyard chores! He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
His son, Steve, played seven NFL seasons for the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Houston Oilers and Philadelphia Eagles.
Edgar is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverly Hendrickson; daughters, Linda Lewis and Chris Torress; sons, Edward Hendrickson, Doug Parsons, Brad Parsons, Greg Parsons and Steve Hendrickson; sister, Bernita Lonergan of Austin, MN; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
