Milo Kreston Brainard, age 73, of Luana, Iowa died February 23, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 26 at 1:30 p.m. at St.John's Lutheran Church, Waukon, Iowa. Rev. Lynn Groe officiated. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home, Waukon was in charge of services. Pallbearers were Lyle Pape, Gerald Pape, Edwin McKee, Lawrence Powell, Harva Oelberg, and Eldon Kregel.

Milo was born on June 24, 1915 to Amos and Cora (Ewing) Brainard. He received his education in country schools in Allamakee and Clayton Counties, completing 8th grade. He married Anita Borcherding, April 12, 1943 at Elkader, Iowa. He was a lifelong Allamakee County resident and a member of St.John's Lutheran Church. He served in the army during WWII.

Preceding him death was a son-in-law, an infant granddaughter, Jessi Ann, and 2 brothers, Charles and Clarence Brainard.

Surviving him are his wife, Anita, children, James Brainard, Luana, Iowa, Shirley Brainard, Waukon, Iowa, Amy Moses, Luana; 2 grandchildren, Joseph and Jacob Moses; brothers and sisters, Alice Brainard, Irene Brainard, and Mrs. Vince (Beulah) Bowers, all of Luana, Adelbert Brainard, Luana,and Forrest Brainard, Postville, Iowa
