Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Gladys (Amondson) Montich, 80, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, died Friday December 16, 1988 in Paoli Memorial Hospital in Phoenixville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 20 in the Baptist Church, Phoenixville. Burial was in St.Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hill. Kepp Funeral Home, Phoenixville was in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Worthington, Minnesota to Adolph and Hannah (Ahlstrom) Amondson. She graduated from Waukon High School in Waukon, Iowa and the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During World War II she served as a lieutenant junior grade in the U.S. Nursing Corps, stationed at several U.S. Naval hospitals. She was a registered nurse, serving on the Phoenixville Hospital nursing staff until her retirement in 1973. She did volunteer work at the church and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Baptist Church, Fidelis Bible Class, Swedish Hospital Nursing Alumnae Association, and Phoenixville Hospital Nursing Alumnae Association.
Surviving are her husband, John Montich, Jr.; two sons, John J. Montich of Long Beach, California, and James E. Montich of Reading, Pennsylvania; a sister, Mrs. Helen Flage of Waukon, Iowa and two grandchildren.
