Big Lake resident Louis A. Moe, 69, died Jan. 8, 2005, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, from complications associated with emphysema.
A celebration of life will be scheduled for June, please contact family for more details.
Mr. Moe was born June 14, 1935 in Lansing, Iowa, and was a member of the high school graduating class in Waterville, Iowa, in 1953.
In 1976, he moved to Alaska, where he lived in Anchorage until moving to Big Lake in 1999. He worked for Sand Lake Union 76 from 1976 until 1986, for Sears from 1986 until 1997 and for Pizza Hut from 1997 to 1999.
Mr. Moe was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Anchorage.
He enjoyed canoes, motorcycles and traveling.
His family wrote, "Lou had an incredible ability to tell a story or recap a special event or time. He will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him."
Survivors include his daughters, Julia "Kathy" Henry of Anchorage and Karen Karpinski of Wisconsin; sons, Carl Moe of Big Lake and Alan Moe of Indiana; sister, Hilma Rathbun of Waterville, Iowa and brother, Walter Moe of Dickerson, Fla.
His wife of 40 years, Betty H. Moe, preceded him in death in 1997.
Arrangements were made with Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St., Anchorage.
