Joseph Hoffman passed away Thursday at his home in French Creek township, where he had resided for sixty-nine years. He was past eighty-three years of age.

Born in Holsom, Germany, February 6, 1828, he came with his parents to America when he was 14 years old and they settled on the farm in French Creek township which had since been his home.

He was united in marriage February 2, 1875, with Miss Mary O. Haas and to them were born seven children, three of whom died in infancy.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and four daughters, namely: Mrs. Hiller Teff of Dorchester; Mrs. John Mauss and Mrs. Fred Hammel of Church, and Mrs. Fred Wing of Madison, Wis.

Two sisters and one brother survive: Mrs. Eva Kohn of Cherokee, Iowa; Mrs. Julia Haas, Jackson Junction, Iowa and Jacob Hoffman of Moyd, Ore. Also twelve grandchildren.

Burial took place at Lycurgus Saturday morning at 9:30.
