Following an illness of three weeks with gall stones, Mrs. Kathryne Maguire died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P.F. Dempsey, in this city.

Funeral services were held Monday morning, which would have been her eighty-second birthday. Rev. Fr. Fitzgerald of Dubuque conducted the services at St. Patrick's church and interment was made in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Kathryne Devine was born in Dublin, Ireland, August 15, 1840, and came to America at the age of 20, residing the first year in New York city. From there she went to Philadelphia to live with her brother, Luke Devine.

There she met and married Richard Maguire and after a residence of two years in that city they came to Iowa and to Allamakee county, settling on a farm in Jefferson township, where all but the eldest of their children were born and where Mr. Maguire died thirty-five years ago.

After her husband's death she lived with her son, William, until six months ago she took up her residence in the home of her daughter, Mr. Dempsey, in Waukon.

The surviving children are Thomas of Kensal, N.D.; William and James of Waukon; Mrs. Margaret Dempsey of Waukon; Mrs. Teresa Welter of Chicago. One daughter, Mrs. Mary Montgomery, preceded her in death a few months ago.

She also leaves twelve grandchildren and many friends who will deeply mourn her departure.
