The sad news was brought to this city last Monday of the death of Mrs. Anna Schierholz, wife of Mr. Charles Schierholz, a former resident of Lansing.

She had been sick nearly all winter, but information received last week reported her improving with favorable prospects of getting well. She died very suddenly, however.

Mrs. Schierholz was a daughter of Mr. Herman Roese, an old resident of this county, and was married to Mr. S. in 1857. Her husband was for many years a partner of Messrs. Nielander & Brockhausen, of this city, under the old firm, Nielander, Schierholz & Co., and is well and favorably remembered by many of the early settlers of Lansing and Allamakee county, and is a brother of Mr. Herman Schierholz. He removed to St. Louis in 1867, where he has since resided.

The deceased had many friends here who will be case in deepest sorrow upon learning her death. She was 37 years old, and leaves to mourn her loss two children, aged 17 and 15 years, and a grief-stricken husband.
