Mrs. Martha Troendel, nee Schmidt, wife of Fritz Troendel [sic], of Lansing township, died at her home last Wednesday, after an illness of over six months and was laid away the next day in the Catholic cemetery west of town.

Deceased was born in the year 1823 at Oberwiehl, Amt Walzhuth, Baden, Germany. she was married in 1848, came to America in 1855 and to Lansing Dec. 7, of the same year.

Mrs. T. was the mother of eleven children, ten of whom survive her.

Note: When her husband, Fred. died in 1899 his obituary stated that he was "buried in the old Catholic cemetery beside his wife who died twelve years ago.". The Catholic cemetery at that time is now abandoned, many of the remains reinterred elsewhere, including Gethsemane cemetery, where the Troendle's have a large monument.
