On Tuesday the remains of Fridolin Troendle, formerly a well known resident of May's Prairie, arrived here from La Crosse, and the following day the funeral took place from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Intlekofer, in this city, burial being in the old Catholic cemetery beside his wife who died twelve years ago.

He died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John Grau, near La Crosse, and his age was 78 years.

Notwithstanding the stormy day there was a good turnout of old friends.

Death was caused from pneumonia after only a weeks illness. Deceased was born in Baden, Germany, Nov. 26, 1820. He was married in 1848 to Miss Martha Smith who preceded him in death about twelve years ago.

Eleven children were born to them of whom ten survive. A son Fred, and daughters Miss Minnie, Mrs. J. Intlekofer, Mrs. R. Glynn, and Mrs. J. Hammel reside in this Twp. Leopold, Mrs. J. Grau, Mrs. F. Taplet and Mrs. F. Pillmier of La Crosse, and Joseph in N. Dakota, nearly all of whom were present at the funeral.

All the older residents here knew deceased long and intimately.

Conflict: Although the obituary gives burial next to his wife in the old Catholic cemetery, Fred & his wife Martha have a large gravestone in Gethsemane. Martha died prior to the establishment of Gethsemane cemetery, their remains were either reinterred from the old Catholic cemetery, or the monument is a cenotaph.
