Last Wednesday's Prairie du Chien Press briefly chronicles the death of a former estimable Lansing lady, who will be remembered as landlady of the Germania House in the early '80's:
"Mrs. Amann, mother of E.C.. Amann, died at her home on North Church street this morning after a lingering illness. The funeral is to be held at St. Gabriel's church Friday morning at 8 o'clock and the frail form laid away in the church yard beside that of her husband who passed away a number of years ago."
~The Allamakee Journal, Wednesday, June 19, 1912; pg 2
Notes:
-- Her maiden name is from the obit of her husband Charles, and her dates from gravestone in St. Gabriel's Catholic Cemetery, Prairie du Chien, WI-- After her husband died in 1900, she had the remains of two of their children (Carolina & Ernest) disinterred from the (abandoned) Catholic cemetery near Lansing, and reburied in St. Gabriels cemetery near their father.
