The Prairie du Chien papers contained the following on the death of Chas .Amann brief mention of which was made in our last:

Mr. Amann was born in Oberdorf, O., A. Wertemberg, Germany, on April 3rd, 1849. when 22 years of age he came to the United States, and was married at Troy, N.Y. to Miss Caroline Christ. In 1875 they moved to Lansing, Iowa, where they resided for 14 years.

Mr. Amann finally came to Prairie du Chien in 1888 where he remained until his death. His wife and one son survive him.

Mr. Amann made many friends here during the dozen years he spent in Prairie du Chien. He was a man of extensive reading, a good citizen, faithful husband and loving father.

The deceased was an invalid for several years and finally realized the inevitable, and he was prepared for the fate that all have to meet.

The bereaved widow and son have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends in their time of sorrow.

The funeral services were held at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, on Saturday, August 4th, at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Father Joerres officiated in the solemn mass for the dead, and the remains were interred in the cemetery near the church.
