Death of Henry Grotegut
Henry Grotegut of Waukon died late Sunday at Independence where he had been cared for the past year.
He was born at Newton, Wis., June 3, 1876, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Grotegut and came to Allamakee county with his parents when young and settled on a farm in Ludlow twp. There he was married to Miss Lydia Becker and established their home on a farm where he resided and moved to this city. [sic]
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Roy Flage of Waukon, and three sons, Calvin of Waukon, Walter of Winneshiek county, and Reuben of Union Prairie township. He is also survived by an only brother, Simon Grotegut of Waukon, and two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Thomas and Mrs. Fred Bechtel, of Waukon.
The funeral services were held at the family home on East Main Street this (Wednesday) afternoon and at the Salem Reformed Church in Ludlow and were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. M. DeBahr. Burial was made in the nearby cemetery by the side of his wife who died in 1938.
