The people of our neighborhood were greatly shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. Dan Blaess, who died at the Cresco hospital last Sunday night. She was brought home Sunday in Northern Canoe and on Monday afternoon she was taken to her parental home of Elis Nelson, east of Sattre, and was laid to rest in the Big Canoe cemetery near the church where she has been a member since childhood. Quite a number gathered at the home Monday forenoon to take a farewell look at Mrs. Blaess. She leaves a husband and two daughters, father and mother, two brothers and two sisters, besides a host of friends to mourn her loss.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Josephine. She was born Sept.12, 1886 and died Oct. 29, 1911. She is buried in the Iowa River Cemetery in Allamakee County, Iowa.
