Drops Dead in the Road.
[Waukon Democrat.]
The family and acquaintances of Frank Stirn were startled Saturday evening by a message that he had been found dead in the road near the village of Church where he formerly resided on a farm before his removal to Waukon several years ago. Death was due to heart disease. He had been to the carnival at Lansing and had gone to the Church neighborhood for a few days’ visit with relatives. He had gathered some hickory nuts Saturday morning and complained of feeling weary as he left the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ferris, about dusk to walk to the home of his brother-in-law D. Keffler. He was found dead in the road a few moments lattr{sic}. Deceased was about 70 years of age and was a veteran of the Civil War, having belonged to a Wisconsin regiment.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 1842 and died Sept. 30, 1911. He is buried in the Gethsemane Cemetery.
