Mr. E.J. White, who for several years was a resident of this city and long and efficiently filled the office of City Marshal, died at his home in French Creek, on Monday, the 2d inst.

Mr. White was an honorable, upright man, and in all his dealings with his fellow men he endeavored to carry out that golden precept, "do unto others as ye would that others should do unto you."

Although not blessed with an over abundance of this world's goods, yet he was ever ready to help the poor and distressed. Peace to his ashes.
