The sympathy of this community is with Mr. and Mrs. John Hinchon, who lost their household pet last Monday night, and whose death notice appears in to-days paper.

DIED. Sept. 27, John Mitchell, infant son of John and Jennie A. Hinchon, aged 7 months and 2 days.

"All that's bright must fade,
The brightest still the fleetest,
All that's sweet was made
But to be lost when sweetest."

Card of Thanks - The undersigned return thanks and assurance of their high appreciation to the authoress of the lines on the death of their baby, which appeared in the JOURNAL of Oct. 20th, 1875, though they do not know the authoress they will still ever cherish the warmest feeling toward the unknown, but gifted, Kathleen.

Notes:
The "lines on the death" are in reference to a long poem signed by "Katherine" appearing in the 10/20/1875 Lansing paper. The poem has not been transcribed.

The baby was the son of John W. & Jennie A. (Hastings) Hinchon. He's buried in Oak Hill cemetery, 1875 Jan 29-1875 Sep 27. In the Woodmansee cemetery book, he is incorrectly IDed as Jennie
