Relatives here, the I.E. Beeman and Fred Beeman families, received the sad news last Wednesday afternoon of the death of Helen Gretchen Kopke, which took place on shipboard two days before arriving at Manila, Philippine Islands.

Mrs. Kopke, who, before her marriage, was Miss Cora Beeman of this city, came to her old home over a year ago with her six year old daughter, Helen Gretchen, who was suffering with malarial fever contracted at their home in the Philippines. After a year's residence here the little girl seemed well and hearty and it was thought the disease had been eradicated.

A little over a moth ago they started on their return to the Philippines. When they reached the tropics the fever returned, with the result above stated.

Helen was a precocious, sweet child, and during her year of life here endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact. The bereaved parents have the heartfelt sympathy of all who knew the little girl.
