Mrs. P. Joyce - "Grandma" Joyce, mention of whose illness was made in our last, passed away Friday evening at the ripe old age of 87 years.

Deceased was born in county Mayo, Ireland, came to America with her husband who died in Oct., 1895, in the 50s, first settling in Kentucky, where they resided several years. Located on a farm in Wexford, this county, in 1870, and four or five years ago came to this city to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. P. Gilroy.

Four sons, Patrick of Lafayette, Thos. of Emmetsburgh, James of St. Louis and John of Dubuque, also survive to mourn the loss of a good and kind mother.

The funeral occurred Sunday and was largely attended by old home friends and neighbors of Lafayette. Interment took place at Wexford after a Requiem Mass at the Catholic church in this city.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of all who know them and desire us to return their heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted in the last sad rites and at the funeral of their beloved mother.

Note: Catherine (Cusack) Joyce is buried in Wexford cemetery, where she shares a gravestone with her husband Patrick Joyce (1808-1895)
