We are sorry this week to be called upon to record the occurrence of a death in one of our esteemed families. Mrs. Esten Engan, who we reported last week as suffering from kidney trouble, did not, as was hoped, recover. She was taken with measles some three weeks ago, which settled on her kidneys, and she was a very sick lady for a while, but bid fair to recover. Last Monday pneumonia was added to her catalogue of diseases, and it proved more than her weakened system could stand, and despite the consultation and advice of two physicians, and the assistance of a trained nurse, and all the care a loving husband and mother could give, she passed away on Friday morning at 3:30. Mrs. Engan was of a quiet and unassuming disposition and was universally liked and counted her friends by the number of those who knew her. She was born and reared near Dee, Minn., and was married some six years ago to Mr. Engan. She came here with her husband three years ago, and had endeared herself to all who knew her. She was but 26 years of age at the time of death. She leaves to mourn her untimely demise her husband and two boys, aged three and five years, besides her mother, Mrs. Alsberg and her brother Ole, and a host of friends. The funeral was held Sunday and was very largely attended. The remains were laid at rest in the Waterloo Ridge cemetery, Rev. Vilhelmsen officiating both at the home and cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name was Andrine. She was born March 1, 1885 and died April 28, 1911.
