At her home in this city on Wednesday at noon, Mrs. C. Volkart passed away, after an illness of nine days.

Deceased was born in Canton Glarus, Switzerland, and emigrated to American in the fall of '54. She was married to J.H. Volkart, now deceased, in 1856. Eight children were born to them, five of whom survive her.

Deceased was a sister of Jacob Marti.

Note: Although no gravestone is extant, Allamakee County 'Return of Deaths' show Catharine (Marti) Volkard died 2/29/1888, and was buried in Oak Hill cemetery on 3/2/1888.
