Henry Volkhart [sic], an old resident of Lansing, was buried last Friday. He was a member of the German Society, and the members turned out in large numbers to pay their last and sad respects to the departed brother.

Notes: husband of Catharine (Marti) Volkart (died 2/29/1888). Although no gravestone is extant, Allamakee County 'Return of Deaths' show she was buried in Oak Hill cemetery on 3/2/1888. Henry does not appear in 'Woodmanee' but is assumed to also be in Oak Hill. Interested researchers should verify his burial place to their satisfaction.
