Mr. Anton Guler died at his residence in South Lansing, Monday, October 2, at the advanced age of 81 years, 3 months and 26 days. He had been in feeble health for some years and laid down the burden of life as one who had completed his work in this world and passed on to the realizaton of his reward in the brighter one beyond.

He leaves an aged and inform widow to mourn the loss of a companion with whom, hand in hand, she has trod life's uneven way for nearly sixty years. It is seldom that a couple live together so many years as have these estimable old people. Married July 6, 1823, they celebrated their golden wedding, the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage in Lansing nearly ten years ago, July 6, 1873.

Mrs. Guler is but about five years younger than her husband and feels the weight of years and infirmities of age a burden. It is but natural that she should be overcome with grief at this separation which has interrupted a companionship so long enjoyed and finds little consolation save in the hope of the meeting beyond the River.

Mr. Guler was a native of Switzerland and came to this country in 1846, spending most of the active years of his life in Illinois and Wisconsin. He came to Lansing in 1866, since which time he has not taken an active part in life's affairs, owing to his feebleness.

Besides his aged widow, four daughters, two in California, and Mrs. Irle, of this city, and Mrs. Bieber, of Harpers Ferry, and a son in Montana survive him.

The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended, the services being conducted by Rev. E. Mueller.

Notes:
-Burial is in Oak Hill cemetery. Woodmansee book incorrectly lists Anton & his wife Barbara as Gules.
-Mrs. Irle is Ursula (Guler) Irle, w/o Jacob
