Augusta Schroeder was born in Lanenburg, Germany, Sept. 17, 1830. In 1856 she was united in marriage to Henry Kamin. To this union six children were born, three of whom died in infancy. In 1871 she came with her husband to the United States, settling in Chicago, Ill., and after nine years of residence there they removed to Frankville, Iowa, near which place she resided until her death, which occurred March 28th, 1911, having reached the age of 80 years, 6 months and 5 days. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. peter Miller of Grand View, Iowa, Mrs. Paul Duvel of Ludlow and Mrs. Paul Topel of this place, to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, her husband having preceded her in death on July 30th, 1909. Mrs. Kamin died very suddenly on Tuesday morning, March 28th, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Paul Topel. She was in her usual health the day before, being about the house, and retiring early as was her custom. Upon failing to arise at the usual time the next morning, an investigation disclosed the fact that she had passed peacefully away, her death being due to apoplexy. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon from the German Reformed church in Ludlow, of which she was a member, conducted by Rev. Wornholt, assisted by Rev. Ziegler of Frankville. Interment was made in the Ludlow cemetery. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Waukon. It also shows she was born Sept. 13, 1830; however, her gravestone shows 1828 which does not agree with the above.

To further muddy the water re: DOB. The 1913 'Past and Present of Allamakee County' biography of Paul Topel (pg 567) "...Mr. Topel was united in marriage to Miss Tillie Kamin .... a daughter of Henry and Augusta (Schroeder) Kamin, the former born July 2, 1825 and the latter September 17, 1831 ..."
