Simon Hager. One of the oldest residents of Allamakee county died in this city last week, Tuesday, October 7th.

He came to America and located in Ludlow township in 1860. He was born at Rahfeld, Lippe-Detmold, Germany, and was united in marriage with Miss Wilhelmine Krampe, who died in the year 1900.

He is survived by ten children who are: William of this city; Mrs. Thomas Helming and Mrs. Fred Danne of Baxter, Iowa; Mrs. David J. Flage of Newtown, Missouri; Mrs. Will Toney of Waukon; Mrs. David Bauercamper of Ludlow; Mrs. Ben Krieger of Waukon; Miss Lizzie, Waukon; Albert at home; Mrs. Rev. Carl Ernst of Slater, Iowa; besides nineteen grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. August Simmons, residing with John Simmons on R.1.

He resided in Allamakee county more that fifty years, coming to Waukon from his Ludlow farm about two years ago. He was past 70 years of age.

The funeral was held last Friday at the Zalmona church in Ludlow of which he was a member from its organization and held some of the most important offices, and was elder for more than thirty years. Rev. Sizzler, the present pastor conducting the services, assisted by Revs. Shinning, Vornholt and VanNice.

The pallbearers were six nephews: John Simmons, O.J. Hager, John H. Hager, Paul Hager, Fred Sanderman and Otto Sanderman.

The children wish to extend thanks to all who assisted in caring for their father during his illness.
