INSANE.-Mrs. Charles Poehler, having been adjudged insane, was taken to the Independence hospital on Monday by Sheriff Leithold. Mrs. Poehler has been suffering from some mental derangement for some time past, we understand, and her removal to the hospital is not entirely unexpected.

Mrs. Charles Poehler, who was some time ago sent to the insane asylum, has again become deranged and was Tuesday taken to Waukon for examination by the commissioners. She had become … wild and had to be … room to protect the … children. The family … The case is one of the saddest in the history of the town. It makes one almost dread to live, when he sees such misery and suffering.
Lansing Mirror, 31 Aug. 1883, P 3 C 6

We omitted to mention last week that Mrs. Chas. Poehler, of this city, had to be sent to the insane asylum again. Her case seems a hopeless one, and a large family of small children are as good as motherless by her malady. this added to the poverty and destitution which surrounds them makes their lot in life a hard one and appeals strongly to the charity of all.
