The serious illness of Mrs. Will Schafer of Minneapolis had been known to relatives and friends hereabouts for some weeks and the end came on Saturday evening at Asbury hospital, where she had been operated on the previous Tuesday, of septic peritonitis.

Deceased was born in this city 42 years ago, being the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Marti, and spent most of her life here, forming many lasting friendships by her endearing qualities of head and heart.

Eight years ago on the 9th of October she became the bride of Wm. Schafer, who with a two year old daughter and her mother and two sisters, Mrs. Jos. Kaufman and Miss Anna, all of Dubuque, are left mourning and desolate over her loss.

Four years ago last spring the family moved to Minneapolis. The body arrived yesterday and the esteem in which deceased and the family were held here was testified to by the large gathering of friends that crowded the German Presbyterian church to its utmost capacity at the funeral services conducted by the pastor, Rev. Kegel, and followed the remains to their last resting place in peaceful Oak Hill.

Besides the sorrowing husband and motherless little one, the following outside relatives were present at the funeral: Mrs. J. Marti and daughter Miss Anna, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Kaufman and daughter Hazel, Mrs. Lena Ibach and sons Wm. and Charles, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Schafer, all of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schafer, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. John Schafer and Mrs. C.E. Odell, Minneapolis.
