A pioneer mother and resident of Ludlow township passed to her eternal reward on Friday morning, March 8, 1929, following and attack of pneumonia.
Mrs. Wilhelmina Kruger (nee Flage) was born Sept. 7, 1857, in Lippe Detmold, Germany. She came to America with her parents in her early youth and settled first near Freeport, Ill., a few years later settling in Ludlow township, Allamakee county, on a farm. On March 7,1877, she was married to Conrad Kruger. This union was blessed with twelve children, namely, Mrs. Helen H. Kiesau of Frankville; Mrs. Mary Kiesau, who died in 1921; Benjamin, who died in 1918; Mrs. Clara T.Ludeking, Mrs. Lydia C. Helming and Henry, all of Union Prairie township; Mrs. Minnie S. Meier of Waukon; Alvin H., John F., Edward, Fred W., Paul and Arthur, all of Ludlow.
On March 7, 1927, Mr. and Mrs. Kruger celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.
In her early youth she joined the Zalmonia church of which she continued a faithful christian member until her death.
Beside the children above named she is survived by her aged husband and one sister, Mrs. C.F. Fiet; four brothers, Fred C. and David J. of Ludlow, Henry A. and John of Waukon; also 29 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Zissler of Monroe, South Dakota, a former pastor of Zalmonia church, and Rev. DeBuhr; the former delivering the funeral address from the subject, "He that believeth shall inherit rest," and the choir had charge of the song service.
Six nephews - John J. Fiet, J.F. Flage, F. W. Flage, Ed Flage, Roy Flage and Grant Flage officiated as pallbearers.
In spite of the bad roads the church was filled to its utmost with relatives and friends.
Note: Gravestone records indicate that Wilhelmina Kruger was the daughter of Frederick and Wilhelmine (Goebel) Flage.
