The death of Mrs. Simon H. Opfer, 92, pioneer resdent of Waukon, took place Friday at her home. Born in Germany, Oct. 10, 1847*; she came in 1869 to this vicinity, where she was employed and later married to the late Simon Opfer. They established their home in Ludlow township. Of their 12 children eight are living, John, Fred, Minnie and Laura of Waukon; Henry of Ludlow township; Albert of Minneapolis; Emma of Hudson and Dorothy of Hollywood, Calif. She also is survived by a brother, Simon Hansmeier of Waukon. Mrs. Opfer had lived her 30 years.

*Note: Gravestone records indicate Fredricka Opfer's year of birth as 1848 and date of death April 23, 1941.
