PROMINENT WOMEN PASSES AWAY
Mrs. J.H. Daly Expires Suddenly Thursday Evening
One of the saddest scenes in the going out of a beautiful life, was that at the bedside of Mrs. J.H. Daly at her late home, Thursday evening at 9 o'clock. The startling news of her unexpected death, was passed from one awe stricken friend to another. It was so sudden our lips said, how we shall miss our beautiful dead.
She had been ailing for the past three years, but seldom complained, and until very recently insisted she was not ill, only tired out, and would soon be herself again, and did not feel the necessity of calling a physician until two weeks prior to her death, and even then her condition was not deemed dangerous. Only the day before, she had greeted friends in her usual cheerful manner, and the announcement of her passing away, shocked the community. Even her nearest relatives were unprepared for the news.
Why the Father of All, should have called her from her earthly home, where she was so dearly loved, where everyone called her friend, is one of the bitter, unsolvable mysteries of life. Sometime, when all life's lessons have been said, and we have crossed the river dark, we may see with clearer vision and understand. While her sweet voice and loving nature will be missed in every circle, her beautiful personality will remain. Her life has only been transplanted to a more congenial shore, and the remembrance of her beautiful life will linger with us until our latest breath, - aye, until she greets us in that home beyond the shadows. Her memory still lives with us. We can never forget the glowing face of this sweet voiced woman. All who came in contact with her, are better for having known her. The flower of her life was full blown; life was sweet. The present was joy and the future radiant with promise. At every function she was a leader, and she was a favorite in the social realm, but the real joy of her life was her husband, her daughter and her home. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a faithful friend. Ever ready to lend her assistance, and her sweet voice to the needy or sorrowing. Tho the life which was ever busy, loving and throbbing in sympathy with those who sorrowed and those who rejoiced, has been removed from this earthly realm, and shadow fills the hours where sunshine gleamed, we must bow in submission to the mandate of Him, who bids his children come.
Funeral services were held, Sunday afternoon ar her magnificent home, at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. R.N. Burress, of the Methodist Episcopal church, who spoke words of comfort from Phil 3:18-21. A mixed quartette rendered her favorite hymns. Hundreds of friends from near and far, gathered to pay their last respects, and the beautiful flowers which garlanded the bier and tomb, were mute testimony of the high esteem in which she was held. All that was mortal was reverently laid to rest in a flower strewn white sepulchre in Roseland cemetery.
The bearers were: H.H. Britton, Geo McCullow, Chris Miller, J.A. Johnson, W.B. Crantrall and M.M. Burns.

"Gone and the home is so dreary,
Gone and our hearts are so re(?)t
Gone from the paths that she brightened.
Aye, with a tranquil content.
How shall we fare on without her?
How reach the end of the day.
Shadows and darkness have gathered
Thick o'er the desolate way."
"Satisfied then with the Savior,
Past all the pain and the care;
Never again to be burdened,
Never a heartache to bear.
Young with a freshness immortal.
Blithe with a rapture untold.
Strong with a life never ending.
Home in this city of Gold."
