Drowned In Yellow River.
Monona Leader:—Yesterday Charley Bennett, employed by Peter Haefner, hauling milk, was drowned in Yellow River, about a mile and a half east of Volney. He was fording the river, and his team got into a deep hole, and in his effort to save his mule team, in some way got entangled and lost his life. He was a good swimmer, and once went near to shore, but turned back to assist his team in their struggle for freedom. He had on the wagon a load of milk. This morning the body had not been recovered, but searchers were at work, dragging the river for the body.
