A. LEAS KILLED IN AUTO ACCIDENT

Albert Leas, lifelong resident of Rossville, 80 years of age, was killed Saturday afternoon, when his car crashed over a bridge and down a 30-foot embankment at Waukon Junction. The deceased conducted a blacksmith shop at Rossville for a number of years. Mrs. Leas died in 1922. He is survived by three sons, Roy of Rossville, Leslie of Monona, and John of Seattle, Wash., four daughters, Mrs. Roy Klees and Mrs. Lee Huffman, Rossville, Mrs. Rody Scott of LaVerne, Minn., and Mrs. Herb Graham of Preston, Minn.; also two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Estelle Emerson of Waukon, Mrs. Cal Campbell, Rossville, John Leas of Cottonwood, Minn., George Leas of Rossville, and Seldon Leas of northern Minnesota.

The funeral was held at Rossville Monday afternoon, Rev. R.L. VanNice of Waukon conducting the service.

DOD: May 17, 1935
NOTE: Gravestone search records indicate that Albert Leas was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah and Susannah (Henderson) Leas. He was married to Catherine Virginia Dunn.
