George Rose Services Held

Funeral services for George Rose, 62, were held Monday afternoon from the home at 1:30 o'clock to the Volney Methodist church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Roscoe C. Jerrell officiating.

Burial was in the Waukon cemetery.

Mr. Rose died Friday, June 2, after having been ill for sometime. He was born a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Vina (Johnson) Rose in the Volney community, one of a family of eight children, Feb.12, 1882. He grew up in the Volney community and with the exception of 14 years spent in Waukon, lived there his entire life. He was,married to Miss Jennie Huffman, June 26, 1912.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Judson Campbell of near Volney, two sons, Wayne of Mt. Pleasant and Wilbur at home, three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Thomas of Virginia, Minn., Mrs. Carl Evans of East Moline, Ill., and Mrs. H.E. Stafford of Burlington; three brothers, Clarence Rose of Chamberlain, S.D., Dell of near Volney, and Gilbert of Monona, and one granddaughter, Marilu Rose.

A brother died in infancy.

Mrs. George Wiethorn and Mrs. Alvin Marting sang two numbers accompanied by Mrs. K.W. Rash at the organ, at the service.

Pallbearers were: Alfred Smedsrud, Melvin Ewing, William Hancock, William Mulvenn, Frank Gopel, and Andrew Ford.
