Mrs. John Huffman Passes at Rossville

Mrs. John Huffman, 83, died at the home of her son, Lee, at Rossville, Saturday evening, June 3, after having suffered a stroke recently.

As Eliza Jane she was born a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Reddy in Jefferson township in Allamakee county, June 7, 1860. She was married Oct. 9, 1884, to John H. Huffman, the couple going to live on a farm in March, 1919, moving to Rossville, where they took an active part in school and community affairs.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs.J.M. (Fannie) Barlow of Rossville, Mrs. George (Jennie) Rose of Volney, and Mrs. Pete (Emma) Fish of Waukon Jct., and two sons, Frank and Lee Huffman of Rossville; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Huffman died April 22, 1941.

Funeral services were conducted from the Lee Huffman home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Roscoe C. Jerrell officiating. Mrs. George Wiethorn and Mrs. Alvin Marting sang two numbers, being accompanied at the organ by Mrs. K.W. Rash. Burial was in the Rossville cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Henry Klees, Walter Gast, Ora Mitchel, John Melc(?)er, John Rumpf, Arthur Davis, Joe Vaughan, and Roy Robey. Flower girls were: Lenette Pederson, Lucille Huffman, Eline Lease, and Maxine Huffman.
