Betty Darlene Dundee was born February 21, 1926 in Lansing Township, near Waukon, Allamakee County, Iowa to John Henry and Clara Bell (Lawson) Dundee. She passed away Friday November 10, 2006 at her home in Waukon, Iowa at the age of 80 years. Pastor Gary Catterson officiated at the service and burial was in the Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa.

She was baptized in the Forest Mills Church by the Reverend L.E. Crippen. Betty attended the Red School near Forest Mills, south of Waukon. She was raised in the Bigfoot area near Volney, Iowa. On April 26, 1946, Betty was married to Edwin W.Hawkins at the home of her parents by the Reverend Curtis H. Webster. They became the parents of three children.

For 29 years, Betty was employed as a cook for the Allamakee Community School District and prior to that she had been employed at Roach's Turkey Plant in Waukon.

Betty is survived by her husband Edwin Hawkins of Waukon; three children Sheryl Ann Hawkins of Texas City, Texas, Charles (Roxanne) Hawkins,and Karen (William) Little, all of Waukon; her five grandchildren: Cori and Will Little, Chad, Lisa, and Matthew Hawkins; eight great-grandchildren: Ethan Hawkins, Ely Hawkins, Sydney Hawkins, Andrea Hawkins, Realynn Hawkins, Jared Little, Clayton Little, and Wyatt Little; her brother Dean (Sally) Dundee of Marion, Iowa, sister Dorothy Jones of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, and three sisters-in-law, Eva Dundee, LaVerna Dundee, and Marge Meyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a great grandchild, Ashley Hawkins; three brothers Duane Dundee, Curtis Dundee, and Roland Dundee; a brother-in-law John Leo Jones and a sister-in-law, Laura Dundee.
