Lee "Joe" B. Fink, 80, of New Albin died Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery in rural Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.
Lee "Joe" Burnell Fink was born August 8, 1939 in Dorchester, the son of Freeman John and Velma (Smith) Fink. He was baptized at the Dorchester Methodist Church, confirmed at Grace Methodist Church in New Albin and graduated from New Albin High School in 1958.
August 29, 1959, he married Margaret Strub and to this union three children were born; they later divorced. Joe married Donna Billington in August of 1990. He worked various jobs throughout his life and retired from Hallmark Construction Company. Joe was an avid sports fan; he especially loved baseball and spent many days at the field.
Joe was known as an excellent catcher and passed on his love of baseball to his sons.
He also faithfully supported the Iowa Lottery. Joe never met a stranger and no matter where he went, he knew someone and loved to talk with them. He had a great love of the New Albin area and the history of Allamakee County.
He is survived by his three sons: Jeff (Carole) Fink of Coon Rapids, MN, Mark Fink of Caledonia, MN and Chris (Avis) Fink of Lino Lakes, MN; a step-daughter, Wanda Sells; two grandsons, Eli and Charlie Fink; a step-granddaughter, Crystal Berry; a step-grandson, Jeremiah Hurdle; four step-great-grandchildren; his siblings: Pete (Bernice) Fink, John Fink, Sheila (Lloyd) Colsch, Sherry (Lennie) Mellick, Mike (Shirley) Fink, Donna (Steve) Stortz and Diane (Tom) Feuerhelm; a sister-in-law, Mary Fink; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; his step-father, Walter Mack; his brother, Rodney "Occo" Fink; and a sister-in-law, Sally Fink.
