WHALEN, BROPHY, WAGNER, FITZGERALD

Waukon, Ia., Nov. 15 - Funeral services were held in the Harpers Ferry Catholic church Monday morning for Thomas W. Whalen, well known resident of Harpers Ferry, who died at his home there Friday.

A requiem mas was read by the Rev. M.E. Nolan and burial was made in the Wexford cemetery.

Mr. Whalen was born in Ireland in 1846 and came to this country as a young man. For almost 50 years he was engaged in farming in Lafayette township, retiring in 1912 when he went to Harpers Ferry to live.

He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Catherine Brophy, and several sons and daughters, among them being James, Frank and Thomas Jr., Mrs. Frank Wagner and Mrs. J. Fitzgerald, all of the Harpers Ferry district.
