FORDNEY, BELL, RICHARDS, POWERS

Waukon, Ia., Feb. 12 - Frank Fordney, a former Waukon baker, died at the Soldiers' Home at Marshalltown. His death was due to cerebral hemorrhage.

Mr. Fordney was born in Dubuque July 29, 1845, and enlisted in Company G., 25th Iowa infantry in 1864 at Burlington, Ia. He was discharged July 8, 1865, at Louisvile, Ky.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Minnie Fordney, a daughter, Mrs. G.F. Powers, of Des Moines survives.

The funeral was held Thursday at the Soldiers' Home and burial followed in the Home cemetery.

Word reaches us that F. Fordney, who operated a bakery in Postville a number of years ago died at the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown a week ago Wednesday from cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Fordney was born in Dubuque, July 20, 1845 and enlisted in Co. G, 25th Iowa Infantry in 1864 at Burlington. He was discharged July 8, 1865, at Louisville, Ky.

He is survived by his widow, who also resides at the Home, and a sister in Des Moines.

Notes: His memorial on Find a Grave states he was born a Bell, and adopted by Adam & Mary A. (Richards) Fordney. The source of this info. isn't given & should be verified by interested researchers.

His 2nd wife Minnie Fordney, died May 1921, is also buried in the same cemetery.
