Wendy S. Storms, 54, of Waukon, died Monday, October 25, 2004, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 28 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Wendelyn Sue was born June 25, 1950, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Willard and Wilma (Rissman) Verthein. She was baptized and confirmed at French Creek Elementary Schools and graduated from Waukon High School in 1968.

Wendy worked for several years at Northern Engraving in Waukon until her illness in January of 2004. She enjoyed watching football on Sundays, especially the Green Bay Packers, playing card, spending time with family and friends, and working crossword puzzles, Wendy was also an avid New York Yankees fan.

Survivors include a son, Jeffry (Amy) Storms of Rochester, Minn.; one grandson, Logan; her mother, Wilma Verthein of Waukon; two sisters, Lana (Earl) Erdenberger of Rochester, Minn., and Linda (Dale) Murray of Pine Island, Minn.; two brothers, Wayne (Gail) Verthein and Mark (Mary) Verthein, both of Waukon; two aunts, Bonnie Rissman and Geraldine (Kenneth) Kerndt, both of Waukon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Willard, who died in 1993.

Honorary casketbearers were Sue Stamper, Kenneth Upton, Pam Jones, Ronnie Olson, June Cota, Jane Rissman, Julie Jostand, Pam Winters, Syliva Roffman, Penny Wheeler, Suzie Gilbertson, and Kay Deeny. Casketbearers were Ryan and Kane Erdenberger, Nick and Eric Verthein, and Reggie and Rick Rissman.
