Waukon, Ia., Dec. 16 - Funeral services were to be held Monday afternoon, with interment in Oakland cemetery, for Sion Meierkord who died Friday morning a few hours after a heart attack. He was a resident of this city for over 50 years.

Mr. Meierkord was born at Lippedetomoid, Germany, 67 years ago, coming to this country with his parents when a child. They moved to Allamakee county after originally settling in Wisconsin.

After his marriage to Miss Laura Gilbertson, Mr. Meierkord made Waukon his home. He conducted a soft drink parlor during his residence here.

Mr. Meierkord was the father of four children, Carl of Louisville, Ky.; Leonard of Cedar Rapids and Misses Esther and Lillian at home. Other survivors are his widow and a sister, Mrs. Conrad Helming, of Ludlow.

Mrs. Herman Sanders and Mrs. Minnie Nagel, sisters and a brother, Fred Meierkord, preceded him in death.
