Miss Catherine Hurley
Miss Catherine Hurley passed away at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, 1949, at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., following a several weeks illness.
A daughter of the late Dennis and Johannah (McCarthy) Hurley, she was born Jan. 1, 1874 in Jefferson township, Houston county, Minn. During her young womanhood she spent several years in Hanford, Calif., Petersville, Pa., Minneapolis, Minn., and these late years she made her home with her brother, Jerry, on the farm, and in New Albin, Iowa.
Miss Hurley possessed a very quiet disposition for making friends and holding them. She was a member of the Rosary Society and lifelong member of the Catholic Church, and died fortified by the last rites.
She is survived by the following brothers and sisters, Dan, Miss Bridget, Mike and Miss Josie of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Nellie Harrington, Dayton, O., and Jerry and Miss Margaret, New Albin; also three nieces and seven nephews.
Funeral services were held at 9:00 o'clock, Monday morning at St. Joseph's church with the Rev. L. Hayes pastor, officiating. Burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery. Casket bearers were five nephews of the deceased: John and Francis Hurley, George and John Splan, Simon Bosen, and one cosuing, Joe Murphy.
