E. J. VALENTINE
Edwin J. Valentine, son of John and Eliza Valentine, was born at Waukon, Iowa, Sept. 25, 1855, and died at this home in Lansing at 2 a.m. August 10 after an extended illness, the cause of death being cancer of the stomach.
Mr. Valentine was united in marriage on February 13, 1897, to Miss Dora B. Withey and this city had been his home ever since.
The funeral occurred from his late home on the south side at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Rev. Kegel officiating, and interment in Oak Hill cemetery.
Besides his wife, six sons and one daughter at home and another daughter by a former marriage at Aberdeen, S. D., also one brother of Williams, Minn., survive him.
Deceased was a fond husband and father, a good neighbor, willing to help at all times, and made and kept a host of friends.
The sympathy of the community is with the bereaved family in their loss.
