Adelaide Aldrich
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 8 for Elizabeth Adelaide Aldrich, 85, of Waukon who died Sunday, May 4, 1997, in Veterans Memorial Hospital. The 1:30 p.m. services were conducted by the Rev. Rueben Grueneich at Center Baptist Church, rural Lansing. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She was born Jan. 28, 1912 in Chippewa Falls, WI. to the Rev. Anton and Emilie (Melbye) Lea. When Adelaide was nine the family moved to Allamakee County. She attended Waterville Elementary School, graduated from Waukon High School and took nurses training in Minneapolis, MN.
March 9, 1932 she married Alvin Aldrich at the First Baptist Church parsonage in Waukon.
Adelaide was a member of Center Baptist Church and its Missionary Society, had served as a teacher for Sunday School and Bible School, a deaconess and founded the memorial fund.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Donald and Lois of Lansing, and John and Sharon of League City, TX.; two daughters, Marilyn and husband Charles Richard of Bickendorf, Germany, and Constance Aldrich of Crest Hill, IL.; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband; a son Alvin; five sisters, Margaret Olson, Antoinette and Florence Lea, Christine Ladd and Harriette Schroeder, and three brothers, Ambrose, Abraham and Albert.
Casket bearers were Nathan, James and John Aldrich, Daniel Buege, Charles Richard, and Richard Seibert.
Honorary bearers were Evelyn Anderson, Harriet Snitker, Irene Tweito, Wilma Jackson, Lillian Ericson, Zeraph Lindblom, Margaret Dahlstrom, Al Lynes, Leo Foley, and Edgar Ericson.
