Death of Mrs. Thos. Bulman.
It is with sorrow that we are called upon to note the death of Mrs. Thomas Bulman, which occurred at her home in Waukon, Wednesday, May 18, 1892.
She was born in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, Eng., July 18, 1832, in which village were passed her childhood days.
She was married to Thomas Bulman the 7th of October, 1848, and with him sailed for America, to make a new home in a new country. Landing at New Orleans after a voyage of 39 days, remained some four months and then moved to Evansville, Ind., where they lived six years. In 1854 with her husband and one child she came by team to Allamakee county, Iowa, and settled in the neighborhood of English Bench, in Union City township. Here on the old homestead were spent thirty-four years of peaceful, industrious life, performing the duties of a faithful wife and loving and indulgent mother. In the spring of '88, she in company with her husband four children, moved to Waukon where she could finish life's journey away from the toils of the farm.
For the past two years her health had been failing, and many lines of pain and sorrow were written on her motherly brow. She was loth to leave, but when told that she must die she said - “God's will, not mine be done.”
Her last days were comforted by the frequent visits of her children, and each time as she said “good bye,” taking them by the hand, and with a “God bless you” and tears in her large pleading eyes, which said - “I fear it will be the last time,” they parted, perhaps not to meet her again on earth.
She was the mother of twelve children, six girls and six boys, four of which had preceded her to the better land.
During her residence in Evansville she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. During her residence in Union City township not having church privileges in the church of her choice, she united with the Mt. Hope Presbyterian church, but on her removal to Waukon, she again united with the M. E. church. She was a fervent working christian, loyal to her church yet ever willing to fellowship every other church which exaulted her Lord.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Waukon, Saturday morning, and the remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground on the English Bench. Rev. Macardy officiating.

Transcriber's note: though her first name is not mentioned, a quick look at the English Bench cemetery records show the first name.
