A telegram from Logansport, Ind. Saturday, announced the death of Capt. P. P. Murphy, former well known citizen and veteran riverman. The remains arrived Monday, accompanied by the widow, daughter and soninlaw, Dr. J. W. Pennington, and were taken direct to the Caholic[sic] church, where a solemn requiem mass was celebrated, Msgr, Haxmeier being assisted by Fr. Costello of Wexford, as deacon, and sub-deacon. A delegation of local Knights of Columbus escorted the remains from the depot to the church, deceased being a member of the order. Burial took place in Gethsemane cemetery Capt. Paul D. Murphy was born in Ireland 83 years ago in March.

Transcriber's note: The first line names this man as P. P. Murphy and at the end it is Paul D. Murphy. There is no Paul Murphy listed in Gethsemane, but the dates match Patrick Murphy.
