ROBERT CHRISTIAN JOHN MEYER

Robert Christian John Meyer, son of Robert L. and Irma (Krambeer) Meyer, was born July 17, 1940, in Post Township, Allamakee County, near Postville, Iowa. He passed away Monday, June 25, 1990 at his home near Postville.

He was baptized October 6, 1940 in St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. Ludwig and confirmed there on April 11, 1954 by Rev. Witt.

Bob was graduated from Postville Community Schools in 1958. He served in the U.S. Air Force form 1959 to 1963.

On July 8, 1960 he was married to Dianne Yvonne Szabo in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, Iowa. To this union a daughter was born. They farmed in the Postville area.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Christian and Amanda Meyer and maternal grandparents, John and Clara Krambeer.

Surviving are his wife, Dianne, a daughter, Jacquelyn and her husband Craig Walby, of Ridgeway, IA; 3 grandchildren, Brandon, Jonathan and Elizabeth; his parents, Robert and Irma Meyer of Postville; a brother, Keith Meyer and his wife, Lois, of Mesa, AZ and a sister, Kay and her husband, Douglas Ruckdaschel, of Postville, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a member of Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204 and the Order of Eastern Star of Postville; the Scottish Rite Valley of Cedar Rapids and was presently serving as Secretary of the Decorah Scottish Rite Club; a member of the El Kahir Temple of the Shriners of Cedar Rapids and the Northeast Iowa Shrine Clown, presently serving as President of the N.E. Iowa Shriners Club. Bob was a member of the Post Township Board of Trustees and Amvets, Post No. 127 and had served as chairman of the Postville Rural Fire Protection Association. Military Honors by American Legion Arthur F. Brandt Post No. 518, Postville and Clayton County AMVETS Post No. 27, Monona.
