ELDO SANDER 1901-1983
Funeral services for Eldo Sander were held Monday, Dec. 19, 1983 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Eldo Sander, son of Christ and Caroline (Schultz) Sander, was born Jan. 6, 1901 on the family farm east of Postville in Allamakee County. He died December 16, 1983 at his home in Postville.
He was baptized April 21, 1901 at St. Paul Lutheran church and confirmed there on March 28, 1915. He attended the South Grove School near his home.
He was married to Aileen Meyer Dec. 5, 1929 at the home of her parents. To this union five children were born. They farmed on the family farm until he retired in 1963. They continued to live there until 1981 when they moved to Postville.
Eldo was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows No. 707. He had served as a Post Township Trustee for many years, also, as a Board Member of the Postville Fire Protection District and for 25 years had been a Director for the Postville Cooperative Society. He had also been employed as a Clayton county D. H. I. A. Technician.
He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, George, Walter, Carl, Otto and Conrad; and five sisters, Esther, Emma, Mahalah, Ida and Caroline.
Surviving besides his wife, Aileen, are two sons, Burnell and Daryl, Postville; three daughters, Murtis (Mrs. Raymond Friederich) and Yvonne Groth, Postville, and Marjorie (Mrs. Ronald Schrader) Luana, 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
