Mrs. CARL C. (Celia C. Heins) SANDER 1894-1988

Funeral services for Celia C. Sander were held Thursday, July 21, 1988 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson and Rev. Charles W. Miller officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Celia Catherine Sander, daughter of William and Minnie (Lange) Heins, was born January 24, 1894 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She died Monday, July 18, 1988 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa.

She was baptized March 23, 1894 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, by the Rev. F. H. Schumann and confirmed there on April 12, 1908 by the Rev. R. Kuehne. She attended the rural school near her home. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, an Honor Roll Member of the Women of the ELCA and formerly a member of the Rebecca Lodge.

On June 3, 1919 she married Carl C. Sander. They had one daughter. They have lived in Postville their entire life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl, who died October 28, 1963, a grandson, Jonathan David Garwin and 3 sisters, Ida, who died in infancy, Lucy Gerick and Helen Olson.

Surviving are her daughter, Helen and her husband, Julius Garwin, of Des Moines and a granddaughter, Lynette and her husband, Robert Patterson of Matthews, North Carolina.

Casket bearers were Harry Sander, Harlen Heins, John Gericke, Leonard Wiedenman, Carl Diederichs, Reuben Schutte, Robert Patterson, Clarence Everman.
