Teresa Mayme and Agnes Moroney were called to Dubuque last week end, were at the bedside of their sister, Sister Mary E. Moroney when she died Friday evening at Mercy hospital, following an illness of two weeks.
Johanna Moroney, daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Moroney was born at Waukon, and entered the novitiate of the Sisters of the Presentation in Dubuque November 1, 1903. She received the habit of the order and the name of Sister M. Elizabeth April 6, 1904.
Since entering the sisterhood she taught in the schools conducted by the order at Lawler, Danbury, St. Columbkile, Dubuque, Dougherty, Elkader, Farley and Ryan, and at Winner, S.D. She was instructor in the Presentation academy at Whittemore, when she became ill.
Surviving are six sisters and a brother, Mrs. Fred Boyd and Bea Moroney, Dubuque; Sr. M. St. Sylvester of the Good Shepherd convent, Omaha, Nebraska, Mary, Theresa, and Agnes Moroney, Waukon and John of Mason City, the Rev. Ivan Boyd of Anamosa is a nephew.
Funeral services were held at Mount Loretta chapel at Dubuque Monday morning. Burial took place in the Sisters plot in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Notes: census would indicate birth abt. 1877 or 1878, date of the clipping is unknown; DOD on her gravestone is 01/25/1946. The spelling of Maroney or Moroney varies, but Mary's gravestone & her mother's obituary use the spelling Maroney.
