Doris Ann Schutte
Doris Ann Schutte, daughter of Charles F. and Ida (Schultz) Schutte, was born December 20, 1928 on a farm east of Postville in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, near Luana, Iowa. She died Tuesday, May 7, 1996, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa. She was 67 years old.
She was baptized on February 6, 1929 by the Reverend H. P. Kumph and confirmed on October 23, 1962 at St. John Lutheran Church at Luana by the Reverend L. W. Reuther. Doris attended the Luana Consolidated School.
In 1947 Doris moved to Postville with her parents. She delivered groceries to the homes of many people who were not able to go out themselves. She will also be remembered for the special pfeffernuss cookies that she made for people at Christmas time. Doris became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center on May 22, 1986. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luana.
She is preceded in death by her parents, five half-brothers, Arthur, Charles, Robert and Reuben Schutte and Harry Schutte, Sr.
Surviving is her half-sister, Mrs. Ethel Meyer of Ossian, four sisters-in-law, Margaret (Mrs. Arthur Schutte) of La Mesa, Calif., Mabel (Mrs. Harry Schutte) of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Esther (Mrs. Robert Schutte) of Postville and Marjorie (Mrs. Ruben Schutte) of Decorah and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 10, 1996 in the chapel at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. The Rev. Jeffrey Ruetten officiated. Joann Martins was the organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
